Ukraine is undergoing some major changes in public health and health care systems. This is a unique opportunity to build a public health system that will be responsive to the population needs.

Currently, Ukraine experiences some of the worst health outcomes in the European region and globally:

  • 136,000 preventable deaths occur annually;
  • Overall immunization of Ukrainian children was 23% in 2016;
  • Treatment success rate for patients with tuberculosis is less than 60%, and, as result
  • Ukraine is one of the 5 global leaders in the burden of multidrug resistant tuberculosis;
  • Life expectancy is shorter by 10 years than the average in EU.

We believe that health of its people is the foremost asset of a country. To make Ukraine a prosperous state, we need to start re-thinking our approach to the health of its population.
